The Daily show was back from it’s 2 week vacatoin last night, and What can I say? They are Emmy Winners…

Act 1 – Jon Stewart and Senior WH Correspondent John Oliver examine President Bush’s methods of coping with the grief of 9/11 and the lessons he’s learned from Hurricane Katrina.

Act 2 – Jason Jones investigates “humane” hunting.

Act 3 as an interview with Maggie Gyllenhaal. She talked about her pregnacy the entire time. It was meh.
The toss – Jon and Stephen discuss the Emmys.

The Colbert Report is coming later…

I just got done watching When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts. (Yes all four acts!) And it was really good.

There was a lot of information to ingest in this four hour documentary, and I am still processing it. Spike Lee did a really good job in not trying to give it that Spike Lee spin, and trying to present both sides to some of the controversies that Katrina presented.

He also proceeded to tell new facts and opinions to me at least on some of the issues that happened there. One of the things that still stands out in my mind that I as a white man had no clue to the relationship of bussing the NOLA residents to different parts of the country can be compared to the auctioning of slaves. I can see that relationship now.

I have put it on my DVR and it goes onto HBO on demand starting tomorrow. I am going to have to definitely watch it again. And again, Thanks Sue.

In [info]urban_decay there was a link to this flicker account of pictures someone took nearly a year later. It is almost like it just happened.

Anyway, if you have HBO I highly recommend watching this documentary. It is really good.

Here is the schedule for the next month, and according to HBO it is on demand starting tomorrow.

I just got back from Wally World not too long ago. I only spent $48 this time. I wanted to only spend about $20 but French fries and veggie spring rolls were calling my name. I need to stop shopping at Wally World; they are starting to skimp on the foods I normally pick up. They cut their natural foods down to one door, they only carry extra firm and organic silken tofu now, and they moved their sprouts down on the other side of the area and now only carry alfalfa. Also it looks like they got rid of the eggplant cutlets I normally get because the space that they usually are in is filled up and that whole door was filled.

For those of you that live in St Pete, other than the natural foods stores what main stream grocers do you find to have the best natural foods type sections? I don’t like paying 50-100% more on something just because it happens to be in a natural foods store.

My blog is finally getting to a point where I feel complete. There are a few tweaks here and there that I want to do to it and I am thinking about hacking out my own plug-in which will show a daily Carlin quote. I have about 40 of them that I have found on the intraweb, I might have to break out my books and type it out myself. I now have the ability to post pictures directly to an entry now, and also have a new and improved what do you think about me form now as well. Look around, and tell me what you think about the site.

I really need to spend a couple of hours when I wake up cleaning the place. It is starting to look pretty bad.

There is a cable channel called Current TV and I have been watching it off and on over the last few hours, what is interesting about it is people submit their own produced stories and there have been a couple about Katrina. One was about a young man who went to get his grandma and talk her into going back to Ca where it is safe. The other was about some people who went down after and showed what it looked like after Katrina, with all the trash everywhere. Judy [info]xfieryphoenix! This is something I know you are going to be interested in!!
