On Saturday I went out to get my mail at the post office and my car wouldn’t start. The starter was turning but it wouldn’t kick over. I then went to find my jumper cables and saw that my trunk light was nice and bright so then I thought that there was something more. I checked my oil and i had a little drop on the bottom of the gauge and thought oh shit.
Made a couple of calls and waited for a couple of hours for Carol to get out of work and when I went back outside to get the cables ready for her I noticed the light was a lot dimmer, so I had a bit of hope it was just the battery.
So she came and after a few minutes I got it jumped. The engine fired right up. I immediately went to the auto store and, yes the battery was dead. So I bought a new battery and some oil and went on my way. So my car is nice and happy now $116 later. Better than having to buy a new car, but still.
I got my laptop, and I have Umbutu installed on it, and it works, Working on getting Mac on there, I have it installed, but when trying to get my sound and network drivers installed it has been crashing. So that is what I have been working on this last week. The thing that I can’t figure out is I have Vista Ultimate installed and it is taking up 23 gigs. The only other thing I have installed is Firefox and AVG. It is huge. Even Leopard isn’t that big (5 gigs).
Hopefully I can get everything working, there are people who say that they can get the sound to work but not the nic, and I have seen beta drivers for the nic. I have been trying to use them, but no luck, that is causing the kernel crashes I think. I might have to suck it up and buy a USB nic for the OSX install.
I got the GPS device to work with tagging the photos, it was user error. I didn’t turn on the option to log the time stamp. So I have it working, you can see that in the picture gallery here:
