Ok, I have been back from vacation for a few days now. I guess I should talk about it. (It only took me a month to post…)

On Sunday I woke up early and flew into Denver. I found myself a little bar in the concourse and had a Fat Tire from draft. It was so good. I savoured every bit of that beer. I miss it and wish it was available here.

I got into Oklahoma by about 5pm or so. Dad took me to his favourite Mexican restaurant and we had some food. After that we went home and I unpacked and tried to stay warm in that house. It is such a big house that it would cost $800 a month to heat, so he uses oil heaters to keep the bedroom warm and only warms it when he gets home, so it is cold and takes a while to rewarm.

The next day I hung out with my dad for a while and then headed up to visit Tammy for a while. It was good seeing her again and she was in the process of moving to her new home, so I helped her with that and getting things in order.

On Tuesday I helped my dad get his TV hooked up and stuff and relaxed and stuff.

On Wednesday I headed up to Tammy’s house and hung out with her. Sat in her car as she ran her fivety billion errands and stuff then ate at Olive Garden. I ended up staying the night there but sleeping on her floor, and then the next day spent helping her with her tree and arranging things and watching her clean. We went out to eat and ate at PF Changs. We didn’t know we were going to eat there but ended up there. At first we were going to eat at a little Thai place in down town OKC but that place turned out to be nasty, so then we were on the hunt for some place different and two hours later we were there.

On Friday I hung out with my dad and helped him shop for stuff and ate at Mamavicas again. As well as went to see my grandma at the nursing home. It was sad to see her there and to know that she is pretty much a living breathing shell.

Saturday I spent time looking through grandmas home and taking pictures of it.

On Monday I drove around with my dad while he was working and saw a bit of OKC. After he was done I headed up to Tammy’s house and we went out to the movies at the Warren Theatre and sat in the balcony and saw a movie called The Tourist. It was pretty good. Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp were in it. After that we ate at Chillis and then I had to go home to wake up early for the flight home.

On Tuesday I woke up at 4 am to get on a flight to Denver. There I met up with Jewel and we proceeded to down town Denver to eat at a vegetarian restaurant called Watercress. I had really good vegan buckwheat pancakes with Earth Balance and she had a really good breakfast borrito. For desert I had a rich chocolate peanut butter bar and then we drove around Downtown Denver a bit, stopping at Wax Trax. Then we drove down Colfax and I saw a few old theatres I saw many many concerts at. Brings back memories. I miss Denver. Once we got to Jewels house we saw all her rescued chickens (she has about 20 of them) and pig and parrots and cats and dogs. We talked and caught up on things. We are going to have to visit each other more often I think. I definitely need to get back up to Denver again soon. I miss that place. Before I knew it, it was time to go back to the airport to go home. Time just went by way too fast. While at the airport I had time for a couple more Fat Tires before the plane boarded. Then I was off back to reality.

Ok, so today I was supposed to do laundry…

However my dad called and kept me on the phone for an hour. It was a pretty good talk. I learned a bit about my sister and her future. They are going to be going to Houston for a year for her husband’s fellowship and then hopefully he will be going to Tyler Texas and making a bundle of money and working on cutting edge equipment. Hopefully that will come to pass. I am excited for them. Someone in this family should be rich and successful.

I made those “chicken” pockets today as well. They were really good. I think next time I am going to use the Lightlife “smart chicken” strips. instead of the morning star farms ones. The morning star farms have extra spices that would have hindered the taste and I washed them off so they were flavorless. These try to more get the taste and texture of chicken. Anyway I took some pictures of it, and this is how it turned out:
chixin pocket thingies

Today I also watched Blue Man Group complex rock show. I love it. Pop industrial! Mainstream Industrial!

Has any of you watched any of the John Adams on HBO yet? It is pretty good. I watched the making of the other day and it is amazing how much CGI is in there for the set building. You can’t even tell what is real and what isn’t anymore.

Today I wore my George Carlin – Jesus is coming look busy shirt. I thought it was perfect for easter.

On Wednesday I got my camcorder and it is small. I can not believe how tiny it is. I like it, and it is going to be perfect for what I am going to do. I am that much closer to getting this project on the road.

Yesterday Carol and I hung out. We had lunch at Thai Basil and then she helped me do some cleaning at my apartment and I cooked some pasta for dinner. The apartment is looking a lot better and I appreciated her helping me. I was a bit miffed at her though because she didn’t bother picking up the large or metal items off the floor before vacuuming and so all I heard was clunk clunk clunk while she vacuumed the floor and at one point it stopped working because the rubber cord for my laptop power supply got sucked up in there. I was not happy. That was the second time it ever got used and it cost me over $100.

The below recipe is something I haven’t had in a long time. It is something my mom used to make us kids when we were little. I just veganised it and am going to make it tonight or tomorrow. Hopefully it will taste the same when I make it after it has been veganised. I will take pictures and post when they are done. I think I am going to make them for my fat vegan chef site too. I need to think of a topic though.

Hot “Chicken” Sandwiches

3 oz. vegan cream cheese
3 T. Earth Balance, melted
2 c. vegan chicken, cubed
1/4 t. sea salt
1/8 t. pepper
2 T. rice or soy milk
1 T. onion, chopped (or the equivalent of dehydrated)
8 oz. canned crescent vegan rolls
3/4 c. bread crumbs, seasoned and finely crushed

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Blend cream cheese and 2 T. earth balance (reserve 1 T.) until smooth. Add next 5 ingredients and mix well. Separate crescent rolls into 4 rectangles. Firmly press seams to seal. Spoon 1/2 c. “chicken” mixture onto center of each rectangle. Pull 4 corners of dough to top center of mixture. Twist slightly to seal. Brush tops with reserved margarine and dip in seasoned bread crumbs. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 4 sandwiches.

So, lets see here… I am working another overnight shift tonight and tomorrow night, so that is a lot of fun to waste the two days. This week will go by fast for sure.

On Thursday I decided to go to the Sarasota vegan meetup. It was a pretty long drive there. About 60 miles each way. It was a small gathering and I had some good conversations. My GPS mapping software wanted me to go through the entire town of Sarasota and Brandenton which would have been about 10 miles less but with traffic lights and shit I know it would have added 30+ minutes to the drive. One of the peoples I met there is dating a Mormon, and we got in a bit of a religious discussion. He was originally from a small town in Alabama and became vegan, and knowing how it is to live in a backwards southern state I could totally relate, he wanted to live in an area with like minded people and he read a part of a scripture in the Mormon Doctrine and Covenants that talked about living a meat free life style so he assumed all Mormons were then Vegan so he packed up and moved to Salt Lake City and found out the truth. He ended up meeting someone and they moved to Sarasota. That was pretty interesting conversation there. I also talked to the organizer of the Sarasota vegan meetup and she said that she actually seaked me out and put me on the list for the meetup and stuff. I don’t know how she found me or anything, I think she might have told me but I can’t remember.

Today I got the Redcola Sounds like sex 2 in the mail and I listened to it whilst at work and it sounds great! I love it. I am going to have to listen to it again and again. I can’t wait until Govinda’s Sound Sutras finally gets here. It has been delayed for some unknown reason.

I had a really good day today for my fantasy teams. Especially in Adrian Peterson. He scored double what my QB did today. This should get me in the middle as far as rankings with the other people that are playing with me. Last week I also got a new kicker and new defense and they helped my points out a lot too.

I ate a really good creamy chocolate bar from Terra Nostra. It was vegan and good and creamy. This is the bar that I had:

I didn’t get a call from Midas today. I am hoping they call me tomorrow. If I don’t hear anything from them by noon I might give them a call to see what is going on. I am really scared on how much it is going to cost. Really scared. Did I say I was scared?

Ok, so ya. I woke up early today to do my grocery shopping. I drove all over the place to look for a couple of things. There was one curb that I hit turning and I scraped the shit out of my rim. I was not too pleased. I know I spent too much and I am hoping I have enough money to pay rent and go to the show.

Today Dennis Kucinich is on Real Time With Bill Maher. I just watched the closed captioning, and I can’t wait to see it. I wish he were more popular candidate. He is so spot on. And not just because he is vegan.

So ya, during lunch I was sitting minding my own business watching Who’s Line is it anyway, and one of the employees that works here came in with a few other employees (they had been out doing whatever they were doing and dressing nice) anyway she sees me and runs up to me and buries my head (not my face, but the side of my head) into her chest and gives me a hug. I can still feel her chest on my head. I didn’t realise what was happening until she was long gone and ya…

Things are kind of crazy here at work. Something happened in Hills that not many people here know about and I am supposed to keep it all hush hush and it is hard to explain things to people as to why we are doing things different

I need about $10,000. Now. Dammit.

Today I updated to the newest version of Winamp, and that fucked shit up for my stream. Took me a few hours to get fixed whilst remoting in from work. Fucking bastard. Hopefully it was worth it with performance and large playlist handling.

There was a great article on vegan fine dining in the news, you can read it here.

Oh, someone sent me a message on myspace this morning wanting help with building web pages, I gave her some basic advice and I was hoping she would contact me again wanting me to help her code. She didn’t. I was disappointed because i was going to charge her $50 an hour to look at the code and tell her where her mistakes were or $60 an hour to correct the mistakes myself.

Bastard.

Veil, it came from milk cowsIf you think that eating veal is cruel and won’t eat it for ethical reasons. Then you should also stop eating anything that is dairy as well. If you are thinking about being an ethical vegetarian or you are against the veal industries then reading this article is for you.

So you (want to be an) ethical vegetarian.

I also posted it at my veg*n / animal rights website as well.

Lots of yummy vegan recipes are here:

I got the article all written up, I got permission from my friend to use the picture of her in a crate, now I just need to get it all moduleised and up to the site. I am going to put it up here as well, so watch out.

That is pretty much all I did today. I woke up at 1 pm, so there wasn’t much time to do much of anything.

4 months and I will be a lead for two years, five months and I will have been employed for 5 and I am vested for the pension. Wee!!
